About Us

Mission, Vision and Values 2026

To create an inclusive, equitable learning community where every student feels a strong sense of belonging, is supported with care, and is empowered to achieve their full potential through meaningful learning experiences, the arts, athletics, and leadership opportunities.

MLPS is a thriving school community where diversity is celebrated, every student is valued and experiences belonging and care - a school where all learners are inspired and confident to learn, lead, contribute and succeed!

We lead with equity, dignity, and respect.  We foster belonging, well-being, and the joy of learning.  We uphold high expectations and provide strong support.  We amplify student voice, agency, and leadership.  We champion the arts, athletics, and academic success.  We engage families as valued partners in education.

History

MacLeod’s Landing P. S. and the surrounding community are named as a tribute to Captain Martin Donald MacLeod. Captain MacLeod emigrated from Scotland and settled in the area in 1862. He was awarded a large parcel of land, on which the school is located, as a reward for his distinguished military service in both Scotland and Upper Canada. The school’s name reflects the rich cultural heritage and the cultural diversity that is embraced by community.

Our school mascot is the Maverick, an indicator of the fierce adventurous spirit of the community members and their ancestors.

Facilities

MacLeod’s Landing P.S. opened its doors to the community’s children on September 6, 2006. The Official School Opening Ceremony took place on November 9th of that same year.
A childcare centre operated by Upper Canada Child Care is adjoined to the building. In addition to the daytime care it provides, U.C.C.C. also runs the before-and-after school program for the community’s families.
During the fall of 2013 a new addition was built on the south side of the building. This addition included two new classrooms and a new Music room.
